International Desk: Protests have been going on all over West Bengal for the past few days due to the rape and murder of a female doctor of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, India. Protests took place on the streets last night as well. At this time, RG Kar Medical College and Hospital were attacked.
According to NDTV news, a huge gathering was held in front of RG Kar Hospital on Wednesday night (August 14) centered around the ‘Girls Night Occupy’ program. Meanwhile, a group of protestors broke the police barricade and entered the G Kar Hospital, shouting the slogan ‘We want justice’. It is alleged that they had rods and stones in their hands. Hospital emergency departments and drug stores were vandalized.
Doctors and students of the hospital panicked due to the violence of the outsiders. A staff member of the hospital said, “We went inside after seeing the attack. 100 to 150 people attacked. They say they want justice, and they are breaking. Attacks were carried out with hammers and iron rods. We ran inside. After that, go up the stairs. The police ran away before us. There were 5-6 policemen during the attack. They also ran away to live.
Along with the hospital, vandalism was also carried out at the RG Kar police outpost. All the things kept there have been destroyed. Although there was a limited number of policemen at the spot, they could not bring the situation under control initially. Later, a large number of police forces were sent to the spot.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal blamed the ‘outrageous campaign’ on social media for the vandalism. He said, “What happened here is due to wrong propaganda. This is outrageous… What did Calcutta police do? Everything has been done in this case. We have tried to satisfy the victim’s family. But there are many rumors… I am very angry about this. We have not done anything wrong.’
