Fire at Bangabandhu Bhavan at 32 Dhanmondi

The Crime Desk: Protesters set fire to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum at Dhanmondir-32. On Monday, August 5, around 4:30 p.m., the fire was seen burning there. At this time, the protestors started chanting various slogans.

Apart from this, the agitators also set fire to the office of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi 3/A. The agitators gave different slogans there too.

Meanwhile, the statue of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was vandalized at Vijay Sarani in the capital, Dhaka. Around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, a group of people were seen trying to break Bangabandhu’s sculpture with hammers.

Earlier, after news of Sheikh Hasina leaving the country spread, lakhs of people took to the streets. They cheered and attacked various establishments. At this time, Ganobhaban was also looted.

Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman said that an interim government would be formed. He said this in an address to the nation on Monday (August 5) around 4 p.m..

The army chief said that the political transition period is going on. An interim government will be formed. All murders will be judged. Trust in the army. We have held meetings with political party leaders.

The army chief told the people to maintain peace and order in the country. You trust me; let’s work together. Please help; I won’t get anything by fighting. Avoid conflict. We will build a beautiful country together.

Has he met with any political party? In response to a question from journalists, the army chief said that he had met with the BNP, the Jatiya Party, and Jamaat-e-Islami. Professor Afis Nazrul and Jonaid Saki of the Law Department of Dhaka University were also present in the meeting.
