International Desk: Both Israel and Hamas committed war crimes in the early stages of the Gaza war. The agency informed us on Wednesday that the matter has been confirmed by the United Nations investigation.
Israel’s actions also amount to crimes against humanity, the findings show. Because the Israeli attack caused massive civilian casualties.
Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. In response, Israel launched a counter-attack on Gaza. More than 37,000 people have been killed in Gaza so far in Israel’s massive attack. Most of them are women and children.
The report published by the United Nations Commission of Inquiry found two parallel findings. The report focused on Hamas attacks and another on Israel’s military response. Israel did not cooperate with the commission. Instead, they complained that the report was biased against their opponents.
Israel has obstructed their work and prevented investigators from entering both Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, the commission said.
The report covers the period of conflict that lasted until the end of December. It showed that both sides committed war crimes, including torture, murder, or willful murder; outrage over personal dignity; and involving inhumane or cruel treatment.
Israel has used famine as a method of war, which is a war crime. Israel not only failed to provide essential supplies to Gazans, such as food, water, shelter, and medicine, but also “acted to prevent those who sought to provide those needs.”
