Narendra Modi resigned on Wednesday as partner parties promised to form the government with the BJP-led NDA alliance. However, President Draupadi Murmu urged Narendra Modi to continue running the government until a new government is formed.
The final results of India’s 543-seat Lok Sabha were announced on Wednesday. Narendra Modi’s political party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), did not get a single majority in this election. A majority of 272 seats is required to form the government in the country, but the BJP won 240 seats on its own. As a result, the party is not able to form the government alone.
Now the BJP has to depend on 53 seats from NDA alliance partners to form the government. The BJP-led NDA alliance won 293 seats. On the other hand, the country’s opposition Congress-led Alliance India won 233 seats. Out of this, Congress alone got 99 seats.
As per the Lok Sabha seat count, if everything goes well, the NDA will form the government at the center. However, a day after the declaration of election results, the game of polarization is now playing out in Delhi. Both parties have become active in breaking up the government.
