International Desk: France has decided to constitutionally protect the right to abortion. On Thursday (November 24), the French Parliament passed a resolution in this regard. This information was given in a report of the French news media France Twenty Four.

According to the report, 337 members of the French parliament voted in favor of the proposal to include the abortion rights law in the constitution. Only 32 votes against.

More recently, America and Poland have taken away abortion protections. To prevent something like that from happening in France, MPs from left and moderate political parties have been calling for abortion rights to be included in the constitution.

On the other hand, radical right-wing groups were opposing abortion rights. The right to abortion has been recognized by law in France since 1975. The new law would enshrine the right to abortion firmly in the constitution as a result of the motion passed by parliament on Thursday.

That right cannot be taken away in any way. Mathilde Pannot, a member of the French Senate, said after passing the motion, ‘This meeting has spoken to the whole world. The rights of future generations are protected.’

French President Emmanuel Macron recently said, ‘The right to abortion is a fundamental right of women. It should be protected.’ He was happy after this proposal was accepted.

Also, he criticized the US Supreme Court’s ruling against abortion rights. In this regard, this type of macro said that women’s freedom and rights are being undermined through this decision of the US.
