Sports Desk: Pacer Marufa Akhter has seen the first hat-trick in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League. The star pacer playing for Bangladesh Sports Education Institution (BKSP) scored a hat-trick against the top team in the league, Mohammedan Sporting Club.
On Sunday (May 26), Mohammedan and BKSP faced each other at BKSP’s ground number 4. BKSP won the toss and sent Mohammedan into bat. Marufa, who got only 1 wicket in the previous 9 overs, got a hat-trick in the last over of the innings.
Swapna was run out on the first ball of the over. The new batsman, former batsman Nahar, came to the crease. Marufa started the hat trick with him. On his second ball, Nahar was caught behind the wicket by Burah Akhter.
Yasmin Baisakhi returned LBW after coming to the crease in the fourth ball. After that, Fariha got thirsty and got bowled. Marufa got a hat-trick with three wickets in three balls. He did not give up even one run in this over. In total, Marufa took 4 wickets and 35 runs in 10 overs.
Despite Marufa’s hat-trick, Mohammedan challenged. Sobhana Mostari’s fifty and Murshida Khatun Happy’s bat made the black and white club score 228 runs for nine wickets.
