International Desk: The crashed helicopter carrying Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi has been found. This information was reported in the live report of Qatar-based media Al Jazeera. However, the physical condition of Ibrahim Raisi and other officials of the country who are with him is not known in detail.

In this situation, speculation has already started about who will be the president of Iran if Ibrahim Raisi dies.

Ibrahim Raisi was elected to Iran after winning the election in 2021. Raisi, a 63-year-old hardliner, previously headed the country’s judiciary.

He is seen as a possible successor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. He also has US sanctions against him.

Under Raisi, Iran has enriched enough uranium to produce nuclear weapons.

Iran is also believed to be helping Russia with weapons against Ukraine. In addition to the ongoing Gaza crisis, Iran has recently carried out massive drone and missile attacks on Israel.

Iran supplies arms to Yemen’s Houthi rebels and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

In 2022, mass protests erupted over the death of Masha Amini in custody in Iran.

Raisi has been called Khamenei’s successor by Qatar University professor Mahjub Zuiri. According to him, Raisi, a conservative politician, is a ‘heavyweight’ leader in Iranian politics.

Al-Jazeera said in a report that if Ibrahim Raisi dies, the first vice president, Mohammad Mokhbar, can take over as president.

According to Iran’s constitution, First Vice President Mohammad Mokhbar will assume the presidency with the Supreme Leader’s approval.

According to Iran’s hierarchy, the head of state is Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and the president is second-in-command as head of state.

If the second-in-command dies, the first vice president takes over immediately and elects a new president within 50 days.

The current First Vice President, Mokhbar, assumed office in August 2021.
