International Desk: The United States has imposed new sanctions on 26 Chinese textile companies. As a result, the country will no longer import Chinese cotton from warehouse facilities.

According to the Reuters report, the White House has imposed sanctions on these companies for human rights violations. The White House says China is forcing its Uyghur minority to make products. This step has been taken to remove all those products from their own supply chain.

Earlier, the US had imposed sanctions on China’s telecom equipment and electric vehicle (EV) sectors. This time, the ban on the textile sector.

According to a report by the American media CNN, 26 Chinese companies have been included in the United States Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act NTT list. U.S. officials said the companies were placed on the sanctions list because of ongoing human rights abuses against minorities in China’s Xinjiang region.

Washington has previously said Chinese authorities have set up labor camps for Uyghurs and other Muslim minority groups in the Xinjiang region. However, Beijing has always denied these allegations.

Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy in Washington has criticized the US ban. According to the embassy, this action by the United States will disrupt the stability of China’s Xinjiang region. This is just a strategy by the United States to stop the pace of development in China.

In 2021, the United States passed the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (NTT). Washington has since banned imports from 65 Chinese companies.
