In an interview with Pakistan’s popular media, A TV, Gul explained the whole matter. Kalim Ullah Marwat was a very close friend of Gul. In 2020, the entire world was affected by the Corona pandemic, during which Kalim died prematurely during the first phase. Kalim died just two days before Eid Khushi was knocking on the door.
Gul could not accept the death of his friend. He said that the bond of friendship between the two was very strong. It’s like they could tell who was thinking by looking at each other! Gul’s main purpose in coming to Karachi was to meet Kalim. The Pakistani pacer retired from cricket in October of that year due to the death of a dear friend.
Even after a long time, no one could know the reason for Gul’s retirement. He had no way of doing it. 40-year-old Gul said that till now, even his wife did not know the exact reason for retirement. After four and a quarter years, this pacer, one of the best in cricket history, finally revealed the real reason for his retirement with tears in his eyes.
Gul made his national team debut on April 23, 2003. ODI debut against Zimbabwe. After that, he played 130 ODI matches. He took 179 wickets. This cricketer, who made his Test debut against Bangladesh, played 47 matches in white for the country and took 163 wickets.
