International Desk: Former US President Donald Trump, who is under criminal charges, is in a much more favorable position than Joe Biden in the next presidential election. This is what has emerged in a survey by CNN in collaboration with SSRS.
CNN cited his flawed Gaza policy as the main reason behind Biden’s declining popularity.
The poll shows that Trump is ahead of his two rivals in terms of being re-seated in the White House. Most Americans think Trump’s tenure as president has been a success by comparison. By contrast, most think Biden has failed so far.
71 percent of voters think Biden got the wrong policy in the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. Only 28 percent of Americans support his policies.
Among registered voters, support for Trump against Biden remained steady at 49 percent. 43 percent showed support for Biden, up from 45 percent in January.
Biden’s weakest points as president are revealed in this survey. In a new poll, 60 percent of people expressed ‘disapproval’ of his policies and actions. The remaining 40 percent feel that he is performing his duties properly.
The disapproval rate for people under 35 is 81 percent. For Democrats alone, the rate is 53 percent.
Other critical issues include health care policies and the management of student loans. Biden’s policies on both issues received 45 and 44 percent support, respectively.
Approval rates for Biden’s policies are also low for the economy (34 percent) and inflation (29 percent).
55 percent of Americans say they consider Trump’s administration a’success’. 44 percent of people called it a ‘failure’. In January 2021, after Trump left the White House and the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, 55 percent called the Trump administration a failure.
On the other hand, even though Joe Biden’s term as president is not over yet, 61 percent of people say he has failed in his duties. The remaining 39 percent called it a success.
CNN conducted the survey from April 18 to 23. One thousand 212 adult US citizens participated in it on a random basis. SSRS conducts this survey online or by telephone.
