International Desk: Iran and Pakistan have called on the UN Security Council to take measures against Israel. They accused Israel of illegally targeting neighboring countries and foreign diplomatic installations.
This call was made in a joint statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Islamabad on Wednesday after the 3-day visit of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi to Pakistan at this time of tension in the Middle East.
An explosion was heard in the Iranian city of Ispahan last Friday. Some sources have referred to this incident as an Israeli attack. But Tehran downplayed the incident and said Israel had no plans to retaliate.
In a joint statement, Iran and Pakistan said, “The senseless actions of the Israeli forces are increasing the tension in the already tense region.” Both sides are calling on the UN Security Council to stop the dangerous activities of the Israeli regime in the region and illegal attacks on its neighbors.
Iran and Pakistan are trying to mend relations after an unprecedented series of military strikes this year. During his visit to Pakistan, Iranian President Raisi pledged to expand trade between the two countries. After visiting Pakistan on Wednesday, he went on a visit to Sri Lanka, another country in South Asia.
