Sports Desk: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is called the biggest franchise tournament in the world of cricket. In the opening match of the 17th season of the IPL, the champions of the previous season, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, are entering the field today. Bangladeshi pacer Mostafizur Rahman is in Chennai’s squad. Chennai changed the leader before taking the field in this match. Rituraj Gaikwad has become the new leader as five-time trophy-winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down yesterday.

A total of 10 teams will participate in this year’s event. A total of 74 matches will be held. On the other hand, national elections will be held in the country during the IPL. Due to this, BCCI has published a schedule of 21 matches in 15 days. Mustafiz’s team, Chennai, has four matches in the schedule published in the first phase. The most successful teams in the IPL so far are the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The number of titles for these two teams is five. Also two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Mostafiz will play as the only Bangladeshi cricketer in this year’s IPL. Earlier in 2023, i.e., last season, three Bangladeshi cricketers got called. The Fizz, who is currently in Chennai, was last time in the Delhi Capitals. He also did not get a chance to play more than two matches. In how many matches Bangladeshi pacers get a chance, that is a matter to be seen. Virat Kohli’s team, Royal Challengers Bangalore, has changed its name this season. Not much has changed, though. From Bangalore to Bangalore.
