International Desk: The Arakan Army (AA), an armed rebel group in Rakhine, has claimed that about 80 soldiers of the junta forces have been killed in Ramri town of Rakhine State, Myanmar. They claim that these soldiers were killed in the three-day fight. News from Irrawaddy.

The junta government sent fresh troops to Ramree on Saturday to fight the Arakan Army in the state. On that day, a total of 120 army personnel arrived in Ramri in four military helicopters. And the Arakan Army claimed that two-thirds of these soldiers were killed in two days.

According to AA, about 60 soldiers who came to Ramree on Saturday were killed in the fight with them. While recovering their bodies, they also seized huge arms and ammunition. Later on Monday, 20 more soldiers of the junta forces were killed in a fight with them during their retreat from Ramri Island.

Originally, armed conflict between the junta forces and the rebels started in the middle of December last year in the town of Ramri. The fighting started after the Arakan Army launched an attack targeting the Junta forces in the city.

Meanwhile, the Arakan Army continued to attack the junta forces to take control of the Rakhine towns of Panagyun, Maungdoo, and Buthidong. They say that after losing control of areas and military posts in Rakhine, the junta forces are now targeting civilian installations.

The Arakan Army continues ‘Operation 1027’ in Rakhine State and Paletwa Township in neighboring South Chin State. There, they captured more than 170 junta bases and seven cities.

The Arakan Army has joined other ethnic armies and resistance groups in attacking junta targets in the Sagaing region and Kachin state.
