International Desk: The ethnic army and the People’s Defense Force Group (PDF) captured the town of Kaolin in Myanmar’s Sagaing region on November 6 last year in a continuous attack under the civilian National Unity Government (NUG). The junta forces of Myanmar recaptured Kaolin through a major attack on February 12.

After the recapture, the junta forces destroyed about 80 percent of the city. About 25 thousand residents of 25 villages have been displaced due to the conflict.

A picture taken by a drone camera shows that almost all the houses in the city have been burned down.

According to the Kaolin-based PDF, all eight wards of the city have been hit by arson. At least 10 villages on the outskirts were completely destroyed by the junta soldiers.

A member of the Kaolin Revolution group said on Monday, “There was no clash today. Still, the junta soldiers have been setting fire to the logging site at In Boke Kone since 5 a.m.’

Junta soldiers have been deployed in high-rise buildings. All infrastructure that hinders their surveillance is being destroyed.

Clashes continue near the village of Kyauktan, on the outskirts of the city. This is disrupting transport on the Mandalay-Shwebo road. Vehicles are also stuck on the Myitkyina-Indao-Kayuktan road, which has been blocked since February 23.
