International Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s longest cable-stayed bridge at Dwarka in Gujarat. He inaugurated the 2.32 km-long ‘Sudarshan Setu’ on Sunday morning local time. Solar panels are mounted on it, from which one megawatt of solar power will be generated per day. News from NDTV.

It connects Vet Dwarka Island with the Okha region of Gujarat. Modi laid the foundation stone for the bridge in October 2017. 979 crore Indian rupees have been spent on the construction of the bridge. While laying the foundation stone, Modi said that this bridge will connect old Dwarka and new Dwarka.

Vet Dwarka is an island near Okha Port in Gujarat. It is about 30 km from Dwarka city. The island houses the famous Dwarkadhish Temple of Lord Krishna.

According to a statement issued by Modi’s office, the four-lane, 27.2-meter-wide bridge has two and a half-meter-wide sidewalks on both sides.

Vet Dwarka is located at least 30 km from Dwarka city, near Okha port. Before Sudarshan Setu was built, pilgrims had to travel by boat. Now that problem is claimed to be solved.

According to Indian media reports, the bridge is named after the word ‘Sudarshan’ from the Sudarshan Chakra of the Hindu god Sri Krishna. The footpath of the bridge is decorated with Bhagavad Gita verses and images of Lord Krishna.
