Imran Khan nominated Ayub Khan’s grandson as the prime minister candidate

International Desk: Imran Khan has chosen the grandson of former military ruler Ayub Khan as the prime ministerial candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The former Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Asad Qaiser, said this on Thursday. Khabar Dawn.com.

According to a Dawn report, PTI founder Imran Khan has nominated Omar Ayub as the party’s prime ministerial candidate. He also called for solidarity with other political parties, including Jamiat-e-Ulama Islam-Fazal (JUI-F), to protest the February 8 election rigging.

At a press conference outside Adiala Jail on Thursday, Kaiser said more than 20 criminal cases have been registered against PTI Central General Secretary Omar Ayub since the May 9 riots. Since then, he has been in hiding. Imran nominated him as the prime ministerial candidate. Also, everyone knows the news of election rigging and the theft of our mandate. Enye Khan Sahib will announce the date of the nationwide protest by this evening.

PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan is currently imprisoned in Islamabad’s Adiala Jail. Kaiser made this announcement after meeting with him. Earlier, the PTI leader had applied to the Islamabad High Court for a meeting with Imran to discuss the current political situation.

Earlier this week, the Imran-led PTI said it would tie up with Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen at the Center and Punjab.

The party also said it would form a coalition government with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. But later, JI leader Baloch said his party is not interested in an alliance with PTI in the province.

Meanwhile, former senator Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said that Kaiser’s brother Akibullah Khan has been chosen by Imran Khan as the speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. Imran also gave a special message about the statement made by the US regarding the general elections.

Asked whether Imran Khan would change his stance on the US, Barrister Saif said the PTI founder’s statement was a response to the State Department’s recent press briefing. The statement called for an investigation into allegations of election interference and fraud.
