International Desk: Co-Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari is the new president of the country. Before that, he was the president from 2008 to 2013.
In a report on Wednesday, the country’s media, Geo News, reported this information. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and PPP have already reached a consensus to form a coalition government.
As part of that consensus, Asif Ali Zardari, the father of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has been nominated as the President of Pakistan, according to Geo News.
Apart from the PPP-PMLN, the new coalition government has four other political parties. These are the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Party (MQMP), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PMLQ), Easteqaam-e Pakistan Party (IPP), and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).
The top leaders of six political parties held a meeting at PMLQ Chairman Chowdhury Sujat Hasan’s residence on Wednesday. In a press conference after the meeting, they said that six political parties have reached a consensus to form a coalition government, and Asif Ali Zardari is the new president of Pakistan.
The 16th Parliament election was held in Pakistan on February 8. But the total number of seats in the National Assembly of Pakistan is 266. Out of these constituencies, 265 constituencies have been elected.
If a party or coalition wants to form a government, then that party or coalition must win at least 133 seats in the National Assembly. But after the results of the 8th poll, it was seen that no party got the required majority to form a government.
In this situation, which party is going to form the government and who will be the prime minister of that government? Six political parties reached a consensus on Wednesday after five consecutive days of uncertainty around the two questions.
Incidentally, during the time of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan, except for the MQMP, all five remaining parties were part of a political alliance called the Pakistan Democratic Movement, or PDM.
