International Desk: General elections were held in Pakistan on February 8. The complete results of the election were not declared even in the last two days due to various dramas. Due to the death of a candidate in one constituency, the election in that constituency has been postponed, and the results in another constituency have been cancelled. Today, Sunday (February 11), the result announcement is finally over.

The Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) website showed independent candidates won 101 of the 264 seats, mostly supported by Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) came in second and third with 75 and 54 seats, respectively. Besides, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM) won 17 seats.

Other parties include Pakistan Muslim League (PML), Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Pakistan (JUI-P), Ishtehqam-e-Pakistan (IPP), and Balochistan National Party (BNP) with two each; Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan. (MWMP), Pakistan Muslim League-Zia (PML-Z), Pashtunkhawa National Awami Party Pakistan (PNAPP), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), National Party (NP), and Pashtunkhawa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) won one seat each.

Meanwhile, on the night of February 9, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that his party is the biggest party in the election even though it is lagging behind in the number of seats. For this reason, he urged others to join him and form the government.

Imprisoned Imran Khan posted an AI-generated video message on his Verified X (now Twitter) account at midnight Bangladesh time on Saturday as his party’s candidates were ahead in the 16th general election.

In the video posted on X, he claimed that despite hundreds of repressions against his party, the PTI, they had won the election “absolutely.”.

He thanked the voters for voting for the candidates supported by his party. He there called Nawaz Sharif a ‘weak leader’. He also said that Pakistani citizens do not want him.
