International Desk: Pakistan’s ambassador in Tehran, Muddasir Tipu, said that nine Pakistanis were killed in Iran’s Saravan on Saturday. Dawn’s news.
Iran’s Mehr news agency reported earlier on Saturday, “According to eyewitnesses, unknown armed men killed nine non-Iranians in a house in the Sirkan neighborhood of Saravan city in Sistan-Baluchistan province this morning (Saturday).” However, no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the murder.
Baloch rights group Halwash said on its website that the dead were Pakistani workers. They worked in an auto repair shop. Three others were injured in the incident.
Ambassador Mudassir said, ‘Deeply shocked by the horrific killing of nine Pakistanis in Saravan. The embassy will extend full assistance to the bereaved family. Counselor Zahidan is already on his way to the spot and the hospital where the injured are undergoing treatment. We have called upon Iran for full cooperation in this regard.
This happened the day after Mudassir arrived in Tehran. Earlier in the day, Mudassir said he was honored to present his credentials to Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian will arrive in Islamabad on Sunday at the invitation of Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani.
Last week, Iran launched an attack on the border town of Panjgur in Balochistan, which Pakistan described as a base for the militant group Jaish al-Adl. Islamabad strongly condemned the incident and called it a deterioration of diplomatic relations.
