Dhaka Bureau: State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu wants to increase trade through versatile exports. He said that the main objective of the Dhaka International Trade Fair is to diversify exports by reducing dependence on garments. I will try to encourage more local industries. Our exports have increased six times.
He gave this information at a press conference on the occasion of the fair at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC) on Saturday, January 20.
The state minister also said that we do not provide foreigners with much encouragement. Many of them do not want to come during the month. But one of the goals is to introduce our local industries. There are people from different embassies in our country, and many of them come to the fair. Now we will take the initiative to bring them together.
Expressing the hope of organizing a good fair this time, the senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Tapan Kanti Ghosh, said that there have been some problems on the road in the last two years. This time the road is very good, and as a result, many visitors are expected to come.
AHM Ahsan, vice chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), said security is the focus of the fair. I have appointed manpower for this. There will also be a police officer. RAB will act as a striking force if necessary. 100 cleaners have been appointed for cleanliness. BRTC buses will be available for transportation. Now you can board the bus from Farmgate.
EPB said that in addition to domestic products, various countries, including India, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Nepal, will participate in this year’s trade fair. Aims to find a large market for the export of domestic products besides product display.
