Supreme Court’s letter to the United Nations to protect Palestinian children

International Desk: The Child Rights Committee of the Supreme Court has written to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to protect the children of Palestine. On Tuesday (January 16), the president of the committee and Justice M. of the Appellate Division. This letter was sent under the signature of Inayetur Rahim.

This letter was sent as per the instructions of the Chief Justice. Appellate Division Registrar Mohammad Saifur Rahman informed us of this information. The members of the committee are Justice Naima Haider of the High Court, Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif, Justice Md. Nazrul Islam Talukder, and Justice Khizir Ahmed Chowdhury.

It is learned that, in a letter sent to the UN Secretary General through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the committee members are deeply concerned about the flagrant violations of Article 38 (1) and (4) of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and other international laws in the conflict zone of Gaza.

The letter calls for an end to all forms of violence, effective diplomatic intervention for peace, necessary humanitarian assistance, and appropriate international measures for the lives and overall well-being of children.

It further states that, as we have a collective moral responsibility to ensure the happiness and prosperity of all children, the Supreme Court Committee on Child Rights is determined to support and contribute to all United Nations initiatives for the nurturing and development of the world’s children.
