International Desk: Calling for a cease-fire, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of the high risk of an epidemic in Gaza amid Israel’s ongoing attacks. This information was reported by the Anadolu news agency on Tuesday.
In an interview, WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris said there is a huge risk of an epidemic in Gaza, and we are already seeing evidence of it. So the ongoing fighting in Gaza must stop. There needs to be a cease-fire. The situation is definitely getting worse. There are combinations of things that will harm human health. The weather is cold and humid, and 90 percent of people are vulnerable to such weather. Even the people there do not know where they will get enough food.
He also said that the people of Gaza cannot sleep. It damages the human immune system. People are terrified. They don’t know what’s going to happen. There are no safe places in Gaza, and people cannot go to the hospital if they are injured. Margaret Harris said the Palestine Red Crescent Society was unable to send even an ambulance to northern Gaza. This cannot be accepted in any way. Injured people are not getting treatment there.
It should be noted that the Palestinian independence armed group Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7. Since then, Israel has been invading Gaza for almost two and a half months. 19 thousand 667 Palestinians were killed in this aggression. 70 percent of these dead Palestinians are women and children. Besides, more than 52 thousand people were injured in the attack. The territory is facing a massive humanitarian crisis due to this Israeli aggression. Nearly two million people have been displaced within the besieged territory amid food and clean water shortages. About 1200 Israelis were killed in the attack by Hamas.
