63 journalists were killed in the Gaza-Israel war

International Desk: After a cease-fire of seven consecutive days, fierce fighting between Gaza and Israel has started again since last Friday morning. At least 63 journalists and media workers have been killed since Monday in the war that started on October 7. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) gave this information in a statement. According to the report, these journalists were killed in Gaza, Israel, and Lebanon. The CPJ said 56 Palestinians, four Israelis, and three Lebanese were among the journalists killed.

In a statement, the CPJ said journalists face great risks in Gaza as they try to report on the conflict amid devastating airstrikes, disrupted communications, supply shortages, and widespread power outages during the Israeli ground offensive.

Hamas fired thousands of rockets from Gaza towards Israel on October 7. At the same time, Hamas fighters crossed the border into Israel and ran rampant in the country. It killed 1200 people in Israel. More than 3,000 were injured. Besides, at least 240 people have been taken hostage by Hamas. After that, the Israeli forces started a counterattack in Gaza.

The death toll in Gaza has exceeded 15,000 due to the continuous attacks by Israeli forces. More than 40,000 were injured. Then on November 24, a four-day ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas, brokered by Qatar. It was extended by three more days in two phases. However, when the cease-fire expired on Friday morning, fierce fighting between Hamas and Israel began again.
