International Desk: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country would consider a “strategic pause” in the fighting in Gaza to allow aid to flow in and hostages to leave.

But despite increasing international pressure, he rejected the call for a ceasefire. News from Reuters

In an interview with US television channel ABC News on Monday, Netanyahu said he believed Israel would be responsible for the security of the Palestinian enclave “indefinitely” after the war.

Asked about the possibility of a humanitarian pause in the fighting, Netanyahu said a general ceasefire would disrupt his country’s war effort.

Israel’s main ally, the United States, has backed the idea of a humanitarian pause in the fighting in Gaza.

“As far as possible, we have given tactical little pauses for one hour, two hours before,” Netanyahu said.

I think we will examine the situation so that goods, humanitarian relief, or our hostages can come in. But I don’t think there is going to be a general ceasefire.

Both Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian independence group that controls Gaza, have rejected strong international pressure for a cease-fire.

Israel demands that all hostages held by Hamas be released first. And Hamas says they will not be released, and the fighting will not stop unless the attacks on Gaza stop.

On October 7, Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel. According to Israel, 1,400 people were killed in the attack by Hamas, and 240 people were captured and held hostage by Hamas in Gaza. Since that day, Israel has blockaded the Gaza Strip and launched massive air and missile attacks on the Palestinian enclave. Later, they also launched a ground attack on Gaza.

According to the Ministry of Health of Gaza, 10 thousand 22 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza so far in Israel’s attack, among them 4 thousand 104 children.
