Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the National Card Scheme ‘Taka Pay’. As a result, this first card was launched in the country called ‘Taka Pay’. The Prime Minister inaugurated this debit card in a video conference from Ganobhaban on Wednesday (November 1) morning.
According to sources, the electronic transfer of money between business institutions, including banks or other financial institutions, is done through payment networks such as Visa and Mastercard. These institutions provide branded payment processing services for credit, debit, and prepaid cards that banks or financial institutions offer to their customers.
‘Taka Pay’ will provide the same service nationally through the use of ‘National Payment Switch Bangladesh’, an electronic payment platform operated by Bangladesh Bank. If foreign banks and institutions are added to this platform, ‘Taka Pay’ can be used abroad. This card was initially launched for use in the country. Later, its use will be extended to neighboring India.
