International Desk: The international non-profit organization Save the Children said that since 2019, more children have been killed in Gaza in the past three weeks than have been killed in conflicts around the world every year.

According to a report by the organization on Sunday, at least 3 thousand 324 children have been killed in Gaza and another 36 in the West Bank due to continuous Israeli air and rocket attacks since October 7. Besides, another 1,000 children are buried under the rubble.

According to Save the Children, according to the UN Secretary-General’s report on children and armed conflict, a total of 2,985 children were killed in 24 countries in 2022, 2,515 in 2021, and 2,674 in 22 countries in 2020.

Save the Children’s country director for Palestine, Jason Lee, said, “The death of one child is a big deal; the death of thousands of children is undoubtedly a serious violation of human rights. A ceasefire is the only way to ensure their safety. The international community must put people before politics. Children are being killed and injured every day in the ongoing war. There is no place in Gaza where children can feel safe. Children must be protected, especially when they are seeking safety in schools and hospitals.’

He also said, “We are calling on all parties involved in this war to cease fighting in Gaza soon, and we hope that the international community will be more active in this regard considering the safety of children.”

Al Jazeera reported that another 1,000 children were reported missing in Gaza, possibly buried under the rubble.

Since October 7, Israeli aggression has killed more than 8,000 Palestinians in Gaza. More than 40 percent of the victims were children. Besides, more than six thousand children were injured.

On the other hand, at least 1,400 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed in Hamas attacks. Most were killed in a surprise attack by Hamas on October 7.

Israel has imposed a ‘total blockade’ on the Gaza Strip. Which is much tougher than the ongoing conflict in the valley since 2007. Israel has cut off all supplies, including food, electricity, fuel, and water, to Gaza under the ongoing blockade and has allowed a small amount of aid to enter Egypt through the Rafah crossing since October 21.

Hospitals in Gaza are unable to provide necessary treatment due to a lack of electricity and medicine. The health ministry said Gaza’s health system had “completely collapsed”. This situation has put the lives of people, including children, at risk.
