International Desk: This time, the Israeli army attacked a mosque in the occupied West Bank of Palestine. Initially, it was reported that one person was killed there. Al Jazeera confirmed this information in a report on Sunday (October 22).
The Israeli military claimed several Hamas and Islamic Jihad “terrorists” were killed in an attack on the Al-Ansar mosque in the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank. They were using the building as a command center to plan the attack.
The Israeli military also claimed to have received intelligence that the mosque was used as a command center to plan and execute terrorist attacks against civilians.
Video footage showed extensive damage to the exterior of the mosque in the attack, and medics were rushing to the scene.
However, there are conflicting reports of casualties in the Israeli attack. Palestinian medics said at least one person was killed in the attack on the Jenin refugee camp, after Reuters reported that two people were killed and several others wounded.
It was Israel’s second airstrike in the occupied West Bank in recent days after the war in Gaza began. However, attacks by Israeli forces on mosques in Gaza have become a common occurrence, and the latest Israeli attack collapsed a historic mosque in Gaza two days ago.
The Middle East-based media outlet Quds News Network reported last Friday that the historic Al-Omari Mosque in the Gaza Strip was destroyed by an Israeli airstrike. The mosque in northern Gaza has been destroyed, local authorities have confirmed.
Quds News Network also published three pictures of the mosque on social media platform X.
On October 7, the Gaza-based armed group Hamas attacked Israel’s illegal settlements. Since then, the Israeli Air Force has begun to carry out airstrikes in Gaza. More than 4,000 Palestinians have been killed so far in their indiscriminate attacks. Out of which, the number of children is more than 1,500.
It should be noted that Israel has been attacking the besieged Gaza territory of Palestine for more than two consecutive weeks. Schools, hospitals, mosques, and churches in Gaza are not spared from the Israeli attack.
