International Desk: Red Crescent humanitarian aid trucks have started entering the Gaza Strip from Egypt through the Rafah crossing. Although relief agencies have repeatedly compared this assistance of 20 trucks to ‘a drop of water in the middle of the ocean’.

Palestinian officials in Gaza say the aid fleet entering the besieged Gaza Strip is very limited. A humanitarian corridor must be permanently opened for injured people requiring treatment abroad.

Salama Maruf, the head of the Gaza-based government media office, said in a statement that the aid trucks arriving on Saturday morning will not change the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

The World Food Program (WFP) executive director says the 20 aid trucks entering Gaza are not enough. He hopes more aid will enter Gaza soon.

Incidentally, Israel has been bombing Gaza for more than two weeks. A total blockade has been imposed on the civilian population of Gaza, with Israel cutting off access to water, food, electricity, fuel, and aid in particular. More than 4,100 people were killed and millions were displaced in this campaign.
