Claudia Goldin won the Nobel Prize in Economics

Economics Desk: American professor and economist Claudia Goldin won the Nobel Prize in Economics this year. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm announced the name of the winner of this award in memory of Alfred Nobel at around 4:15 PM today, Monday, Bangladesh time.

According to the Nobel Committee, Claudia Goldin has been awarded the prestigious prize for improving women’s understanding of the labor market. The Nobel Committee also said that women’s contribution to the global labor market is underrepresented. They also get less pay than men at work.

American professor Goldin has collected more than 200 years of data on this subject. Through this, he shows how and why the gender gap in earnings and employment rates has changed over time.

The American economist was born in New York in 1946. He is a professor at Harvard University. Since 1969, the Nobel Prize in Economics has been awarded. Last year, three Americans won the Nobel Prize in Economics. They are Ben S. Bernanke, Douglas W. Diamond, and Philip H. Dybvig.
