International Desk: The tension is not stopping in Manipur, the northeastern state of India. Three people were killed in renewed violence in Manipur. The incident took place late on Friday, August 4, local time, when fresh violence broke out in Manipur’s Bishnupur district. Indian news media NDTV said this in a report.
It has also been alleged that several houses in the Kuki community were set on fire in connection with this violence. The police of Bishnupur district were informed about this new violence. According to police sources, some people crossed the buffer zone and entered the Meiti area around two o’clock on Friday night. After that, they were attacked with bullets and sharp weapons.
It has been reported that a father and son of the same family are among the dead. The deceased were guarding their house at that time. Earlier on Thursday, a police officer was shot dead in the state capital, Imphal. On the other hand, at least two security checkpoints were attacked in Bishnupur and looted with weapons and ammunition, including automatic guns.
The agitators also tried to loot arms and ammunition from Heingang and Singhjamei police stations. But the security forces thwarted their efforts.
