Dhaka Bureau: The death of 10 members of the same family in a mysterious fire in Pallabir Kalshi, the capital, is still not known. The investigation of the case filed in this incident has been going on for nine years. On June 14, 2014, two sides clashed at the Bihari camp in Kalshi. Later, the police came. Then a three-way conflict broke out. At one point, some of the camp’s rooms were set on fire. One person was shot dead during the encounter. On the other hand, nine members of Yasin’s family died in the fire. These are Yasin Ali’s wife Bebi Akhtar (45), son Ashiq (25), three daughters Shahani (20), Afsana (18), and Rukhsana (14), twin sons Lalu (12) and Bhullu (12), daughter-in-law Shikha (19), and Shahani’s son Maruf (3). Besides, Shramik Azad was shot dead in this incident. In this incident, Yasin filed a murder case at Pallabi police station. A couple of years after the case, Yasin was killed in a mysterious road accident in Pallavi.

Imran Khan, office secretary of the Urdu-speaking Youth People’s Rehabilitation Movement, said that the attack was carried out to occupy the Bihari camp. Biharis have died in fire and shooting, but Biharis have been accused in the case.

However, two types of statements were received from the police and witnesses at the time of the incident. The police said that the fire incident was caused by infighting between Biharis. On the other hand, the witnesses said that Biharis clashed with local Bengalis over the burning of firecrackers. Besides, there was an earlier dispute between the two parties in the area over electricity connections.

A total of six cases were registered at the Pallabi police station in this incident. The cases were initially investigated by the Pallavi police station. Later, DB, CID, and PBI investigated the case. It has been reported that the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) is investigating the murder case.

In another case, a resident of the Bihari camp Md. Badrul, Sabbir, Azad, Arju, Arif, and Jewel have filed a case against nearly 3,000 unidentified people. The case is now reportedly being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). CID Inspector Nurol Islam investigated this case at one time. He said, “I investigated the case for some time. I also got a lot of important information. But now I am not investigating. I was transferred from CID. The case is now being looked at by another officer.

Sources related to the investigation of the CID case said that the residents of Bihari camp have filed four cases on the charges of three-way conflict in which one person was shot dead, an attempt to kill a young man by slitting his throat, car vandalism, robbery, beating, theft, creating disorder, and molestation. In these cases, 32 people have been named, and at least 3 thousand 220 unknown people have been accused. Out of these, the accused mentioned in the statement in five cases and those against whom the evidence of the complaint has been found in the investigation have been issued against them. However, the investigation of the murder case filed by Yasin, who is at the center of the discussion in this incident, did not speed up.

Yasin is survived by a daughter, Farzana. He said, ‘They want to kill me too. Running away in fear. Now I live at my aunt’s house.

Moin Uddin Munna, general secretary of the Urdu Speaking People’s Youth Rehabilitation Movement (USPYRM), said, “Innocent Biharis were burned to death in a planned camp. Even though there are many influential political leaders behind the incident, no legal action has been taken against them.
