Economy Desk: The price of onions has decreased after the import of onions through the Bhomra land port in Satkhira started. Onion, which was sold at Tk 90 to Tk 100 a kg a few days ago, has come down to Tk 75 to Tk 80 on Tuesday. That is, 20 to 25 tk. per kg have decreased.
On Monday (June 6) afternoon, 11 trucks loaded with onions were imported through Bhomra port, amounting to 287 metric tons.
About 10 more onion-laden trucks are waiting to enter the port on Tuesday morning. Bhomra Land Port Superintendent Iftekharuddin confirmed this information in the morning.
He said that on Monday afternoon, 287 metric tons of onions entered 11 trucks through Bhomra port. Another 10 truckloads of onions may be imported on Tuesday morning. That is, 21 truckloads of onions have already entered Bhomra land port through Ghozdanga port in India.
