Dhaka Bureau: Traffic pressure is increasing on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway ahead of the Eid holidays. In this case, the toll collection at the Bangabandhu Bridge has almost doubled compared to normal. Two crore tolls were collected in one day.
On Tuesday (April 18), the Executive Engineer of the Bangabandhu Bridge Office, Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, confirmed the matter and said that from Monday (April 17) at 6 a.m. to Tuesday at 6 a.m., 22 thousand 485 small and large vehicles crossed over the bridge. 2 crore, 9 lakh, 64 thousand, and 500 taka have been collected in this toll.
Among them, 11 thousand 558 vehicles crossed the Bangabandhu Bridges East Tangail section, and Tk 1 crore, 3 lakh, and 16 thousand were collected as tolls. 10 thousand 927 vehicles crossed the West Sirajganj part of the bridge, and 1 crore 6 lakh 62 thousand 900 thousand taka in tolls were collected.
Executive Engineer Ahsanul Kabir also said that 11 toll booths are working in the Tangail section and 9 in the Sirajganj section to prevent the suffering of people at home during the upcoming Eid.
