Bangladesh has shown a surprise in the economy in five decades

International Desk: As co-chairman and speaker of the Congressional Bangladesh Caucus, US Congressman Joe Wilson said, Bangladesh has made great progress in the economic sector in the last five decades. Bangladesh is a country that has grown economically faster than other countries in the world from the poorest economic country in the world.According to the data of the World Bank, the per capita income of the country increased to 2457 dollars in 2021. Now it has increased.

South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson said these things in his speech to the House of Representatives on Wednesday (March 29).

Joe Wilson said that since independence in 1971, Bangladesh’s economy has grown from $9 billion to $450 billion. The average human life expectancy has increased from 47 years to 73 years. The education rate of adults has increased by more than 75 percent.

This US Congressman said that under the leadership of the current Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, the country’s food production has increased, the capacity to deal with disasters has increased, poverty has decreased, the health sector has improved, the education rate has increased, and women’s empowerment has increased. Also, Bangladesh has been successfully maintaining equality between people of different religions. By suppressing extremism, the Sheikh Hasina government has strengthened the people’s confidence in democracy. Also, under his leadership, people’s confidence in the law and governance of the country has been created.

The caucus was established to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and the United States. Relations with the United States began in 1972, soon after Bangladesh gained independence.
