Economy Desk: In the first 24 days of February, the income from remittances was 133 crore, 17 lakh, and 50 thousand US dollars. 107 taka per dollar in local currency, which amounts to 14 thousand and 231 crore taka. This information is known from the latest report by the Bangladesh Bank.

Last January, total remittances of $1.66 billion came in. According to the data of the central bank, in the first 24 days of February, 221.51 million dollars came through state-owned banks, 2.986 million through specialized banks, 107.43 million through private banks, and 5.1 million through foreign banks.

The central bank has taken various initiatives to increase remittances. Sending remittances through legitimate channels is encouraged in various ways. It is believed that the remittance flow has increased as a result of these measures.

In the outgoing fiscal year 2021–2022, total remittances came to 2 billion, 103 million, and 17 million US dollars. Earlier, the amount of remittance collection in the financial year 2020–21 was 2,477 crore, or 77 million dollars.
