Sports Desk: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Chandika Hathurusingha as the head coach of the Bangladesh team for the second term. He will take charge of the Bangladesh team before the upcoming England series. The Sri Lankan coach is coming to Dhaka on Monday (February 20) to take charge of the Tigers on a two-year contract.
Hathuru’s second chapter in Bangladesh begins with the England series. If everything goes well, he is scheduled to reach Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 10:30 p.m. tonight.
Hathurusingh has to start preparations with the England series team after stepping foot in Dhaka. Hathurusinghe will join the national team’s camp on February 22 ahead of the three-ODI and three-T20I series against England.
Earlier, Hathurusinghe served as the head coach of the Tigers from 2014 to 2017. Despite his success in field cricket during his tenure, he received many criticisms outside the field, including conflicts with senior cricketers. Hathuru was a strict “headmaster” to the cricketers as well. But the success of the field game may bring him back to Bangladesh.
