International desk: In response to the ban on women’s employment and education in Afghanistan, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced a new visa ban against the Taliban on Wednesday (February 1). In a report, this information was given by the news agency AFP.

“I took action today to impose new visa restrictions on certain current or former members of the Taliban, members of private security groups, and individuals responsible for or involved in the abuse of women and girls in Afghanistan,” Blinken said in a statement.

Blinken said repression and repressive measures included “the Taliban’s decision to ban women from working with universities and NGOs.”

Since the Taliban returned to power in August 2021, they have imposed strict restrictions on Afghan women. Under the decision, they are barred from government jobs, secondary schools, and universities, as well as visiting parks.

At the end of December, they banned NGOs from working with women, causing several top local organizations to suspend their operations in Afghanistan.

Blinken also said that in this regard, Washington will continue to work in coordination with allied countries.
