International Desk: At least 24 people were killed when a bus fell into a ditch from a mountain road in the Latin American country of Peru. Another 36 people were injured. The accident happened on Saturday (January 28) local time. The country’s police confirmed the casualty information.
Peru’s Transportation Agency (Sutran) also confirmed the accident in a statement. However, they did not confirm the number of casualties. Khabar-Reuters.
Police say a bus belonging to the Cu’Orianca Tours Aguila Dorada company was involved in an accident in Peru’s northern El Alto district. This caused casualties. It is reported that there were 60 passengers in the bus. The injured have been admitted to hospitals in El Alto and Mancora, a popular resort area about 1,000 kilometers north of the capital Lima.
Police also said some Haitian nationals were among the bus passengers.
According to sources, road accidents have become a common occurrence in Peru. Many drivers in the country drive on dangerous mountain roads without training.
Earlier, in 2021, 29 people were killed when a bus plunged off a highway near the Andes Mountains into a ditch.
