20 industrial companies are receiving the ‘President’s Industrial Development Award 2020’

Dhaka Bureau: The President’s Industrial Development Award 2020 is being awarded to 20 industrial establishments of 6 categories by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for recognizing the contribution of the industrial sector to the national economy and for setting up industries in the private sector, creating employment and making significant contributions to the country’s economy.

Tomorrow (January 05, 2022) Thursday at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital, crests and certificates of honor will be awarded to the owners/representatives of the industrial establishments.

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun MP will attend the ‘President’s Industrial Development Award 2020’ ceremony under the chairmanship of Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana; State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder MP and FBCCI President Mr. Md. Jasim Uddin will be present as special guests.

According to the classification of industrial establishments, total 20 industrial establishments/entrepreneurs are being awarded for six categories. These are – 05 in large industry category, 05 in medium industry category, 04 in small industry category, 01 in micro industry category, 02 in cottage industry category and 03 in hi-tech industry category.

Runner Automobiles Ltd. and Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. joint 1st in large industry category, BRB Cable Industries Ltd. and Fariha Spinning Mills Ltd. joint 2nd, Envoy Textiles Ltd. 3rd. Noman Terry Towel Mills Ltd. was 1st in the medium industry category, Mascotex Ltd. and APS Design Works Ltd. were joint 2nd, Bengal Polymer Wires Ltd. and Aco-Tex Ltd. were joint 3rd. 1st in small scale industry category was Masco Overseas Ltd., joint 2nd place was Abdul Jalil Ltd. and Pacific Sea Foods Ltd., 3rd place was Madhavadi Dyeing Finishing Mills Ltd. Only 1 company was selected in the micro industry category, Moscow Dairy Enterprise. In the cottage industries category, Intelligent Card Ltd. was 1st and Rang Mela Nari Kalyan Sanstha (RNKS) was 2nd. In the Hi-tech industry category, Fair Electronics Ltd. was 1st, Meer Telecom Ltd. was 2nd and Service Engine Ltd. was 3rd.

It is to be noted that according to the ‘President’s Industrial Development Award Guidelines 2013’ by the Ministry of Industry, the ‘President’s Industrial Development Award’ was started for the first time in 2014. In continuation of this, the ‘President’s Industrial Development Award 2020’ is being awarded for the 6th time this year.

Recently, the government has formulated the President’s Industrial Development Award Policy 2020. It describes the purpose of awarding the President’s Industrial Development Award, determining the field, determining the number of award recipients and criteria, nomination eligibility, preliminary list preparation committee, application evaluation committee and nomination finalization committee formation and scope of work etc. The Chairman/Managing Director (as applicable) of the President’s Industrial Development Awardee will be invited to various national functions and civic receptions organized by the City Corporation one year after receiving the award.
