Sports Desk: After hosting one of the best and most successful events in the World Cup, Qatar, known as one of the richest countries in the oil-rich Middle East, is now going to set its sights on hosting the 2036 Olympics. Through this, Qatar wants to create a stir in the world sports arena.
Qatar holds the rights to host the world championships of several events during the Qatar World Cup. Qatar has already been asked to host the 2025 World Table Tennis Championship. Qatar has also been announced as the host of the 2024 World Endurance Championship for the first time.
However, Qatar will have a busy time hosting several sporting events over the next few years. Meanwhile, Formula One is going to return to Qatar again in 2023. Qatar’s famous race track has also been revamped in infrastructure improvements ahead of the World Cup. Qatar seized the opportunity when China said it would not host the 2023 Asian Cup football due to Corona. The 2024 World Swimming Championships will also be held in Qatar.
Former International Olympic Committee (IOC) marketing chief Michael Payne says hosting such a major sporting event can be a powerful game-changing element for any country. However, before the start of the World Cup, there was no less criticism of Qatar over the rights of migrant workers.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino, however, has repeatedly said that Qatar is going to be the best World Cup ever. The federations of each country have also praised the organization of Qatar.
The name of the 2036 Olympic host will be announced in 2025. Earlier, Qatar participated in the 2016, 2020 and 2032 Olympic bids. Some audits show that Qatar’s bid to host the World Cup has been barred from succeeding in its bid for the Olympics.
