Anwara Correspondent: Police have arrested a youth in Anwara in a case filed on charges of raping a ninth-grade girl (15) on the promise of marriage. The youth named Md. Kaiser (20) was arrested from a rented house in the Battali area of the upazila on Saturday night.
The arrested Kaiser’s home is in the Salimapara area of Purba Boro Bheola Union of Chakaria Upazila, Cox’s Bazar. He works at a tea shop in Anwara Upazila.
According to the case report, the victim studies at a local high school. Kaiser is an employee of the tea shop in front of that school. Kaiser met the schoolgirl while going to and from school. From this acquaintance, the two developed a love affair. On the morning of May 29, when the girl went to school, he lured her to Kaiser’s rented house by tempting her to marry him.
There, Kaiser raped the girl multiple times. Later, on the evening of May 31, the schoolgirl was rescued from the house by her family. In this incident, the schoolgirl’s mother filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Anwara Police Station, accusing Kaiser.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Anwara Police Station Md. Monir Hossain said that the police launched a raid after filing a case with the police station. The police arrested Kaiser from the Battali area. The accused was sent to jail through the court today, Sunday.
