Sports Desk: Cricket Australia has announced the team for the last two Tests of the ‘Border-Gavaskar Trophy.’.  19-year-old cricketer Sam Constas has been called up to the 15-member squad. Sam has been given the opportunity to replace Nathan McSweeney, who played three Tests.

He has recently come into the spotlight after performing in domestic cricket. Sam, who turned 19 last October, has now got an opportunity in the national team. If Sam lifts the Test cap on his head in the Boxing Day Test match in Melbourne, he will break a 95-year-old record. Sam will be the youngest Test opener. He will break the record set by Archie Jackson in 1929.

Archie Jackson made his debut in Adelaide at the age of 19 years and 149 days. If Sam gets the test cap on December 26, he will be 19 years and 84 days old. The promising cricketer will be stuck in the pages of history as soon as he takes the field. The late Phil Hughes is second in the list of Australia’s youngest openers. He made his debut in the 2009 South Africa tour at the age of 20.

Sam has played for New South Wales and Sydney Thunders in the Sheffield Shield, Australia’s domestic cricket competition. He came to the fore by scoring centuries in two innings for New South Wales. He became the youngest cricketer after Ricky Ponting to score centuries in two consecutive innings. After that, this young batsman also scored a century with the pink ball for the Prime Minister’s XI against India.

Sam has scored 718 runs in 11 matches at an average of 42.23 in domestic first-class cricket. He has scored two centuries and three half-centuries. That is why there is a lot of excitement about him.

Australia squad: Pat Cummins (captain), Shaun Abbott, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Sam Constas, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Jhye Richardson, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, and Beau Webster.
