International Desk: At least 15 people were killed and 20 injured in a bomb attack on an educational institution in the north of Afghanistan. Aljazeera reported this information in a report citing local officials.
According to the report, Abdul Nafi Thakor, the spokesperson of the Federal Ministry of Home Affairs, said that the explosion took place in a school in Aibak, the capital of Samangan. The cause of the incident was not immediately known and no one has claimed responsibility for the incident.
A doctor in Aibak in the north said that the incident took place about 200 kilometers from the capital Kabul, and most of the victims were young. “The dead are all children and ordinary people,” a person who did not want to be named told news agency AFP.
Meanwhile, the Taliban claim to have focused on securing the war-torn country since taking over the country last year. However, there have been several recent attacks targeting mosques and educational institutions in Afghanistan. ISIL (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for some of these attacks.
