Sports Desk: Bangladesh Cricket Board President Farooq Ahmed said that there is a ‘good possibility’ of Shakib Al Hasan retiring back home. Farooq Ahmed said this after the board meeting at Mirpur Home of Cricket on Monday (07 October) regarding Shakib’s return to the country and his retirement.
Shakib wants to retire after playing the Test against South Africa at home. By making such a request, he added conditions. Going to and from the country, Shakib will come to Bangladesh to play the Test series if he can do both naturally, or, to be more precise, feel safe while in the country, and if he is guaranteed to leave the country if necessary.
There has been a lot of discussion in various circles after this condition of Shakib. BCB clarified that they do not have the authority to guarantee whether Shakib will be able to go out if he returns to the country. This assurance must come from the highest levels of government.
Meanwhile, youth and sports advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan explained a few days ago that Shakib’s security request is absurd. His comment was, ‘We must give maximum security to one of our players. It is different if there is a complaint against someone. I can’t say anything about that. Because the matter belongs to the Ministry of Law.
