Sports Desk: Racism has taken a prominent shape in European football. Especially in the Spanish La Liga, this matter has made the authorities think. Real Madrid’s Brazilian star Vinicius Jr. has been the most victimized by racism. This time, his teammates stood united for him. And once that happens, everyone will leave the field at the same time, he said.
Vinicius has been the victim of racist behavior from opposing fans numerous times in La Liga matches. While talking about this, this young star was also seen breaking down in tears at the press conference. Vinicius gave a stern warning. He and his teammates will leave the field if they are again subjected to racist attacks during matches this season.
Vinicius gave an interview to the international media CNN. In the interview published on Wednesday (August 28), the 24-year-old star said, ‘We often talk about this in the club. Not only me, everyone has said, if this happens, then next time everyone will have to leave the field, so that all those who insulted us will be punished very heavily.’
“What happened in Valencia? Everyone thought about it after the match and said that the right thing to do was to leave the field. But since we’re playing for a team there, we know not everyone in the stadium is racist. It is always very difficult to end the game in such conditions. If something like this happens later, we will have to leave the field.” Vinicius added.
Note that in May 2023, during a La Liga match against Valencia, a section of the audience made racist comments targeting Vinicius. Due to which, the game was stopped for 10 minutes. A Spanish court sentenced three supporters to eight months in prison after identifying some of them. It was the first case of a prison sentence for a racist attack at a football stadium in the country.
