Floods in Gujarat: 29 people died

International Desk: Many areas have been flooded due to continuous heavy rains in the Indian state of Gujarat. At least 29 people have lost their lives in this flood so far. At the same time, 18 thousand people have been rescued.

Hindustan Times reported this information in a report on Thursday (August 29).

According to the report, continuous rain started last Sunday. The state has received 105 percent of its annual average rainfall in the last few days. 140 reservoirs and dams have crossed the boundary.

Ajoya and Pratapura reserve water is released into the Vishwamitri river. The surrounding villages and towns were submerged. Various areas are under 10 to 12 feet of water. Roads and houses are submerged. Many have taken shelter on the roof. The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain for two more days. The Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard are working alongside the emergency department in rescue and relief operations.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel over the phone on Wednesday morning. He assured all help to deal with the flood situation.
