At least 18 people have been killed and 30 others injured in a series of explosions in Nigeria’s northeastern Borno state, officials said. Among them, six people were killed and others injured in a suspected bomb attack on a wedding ceremony on Saturday.
The Borno state emergency management agency said suspected suicide bombers attacked a wedding ceremony, a funeral ceremony, and a hospital in the town of Gwoza. The province has been at the center of the Boko Haram insurgency for the past 15 years.
More than two million people have been displaced, and more than 40,000 have been killed in this conflict and violence. Boko Haram gained international notoriety in 2014 after abducting more than 270 schoolgirls from the town of Chibok in Borno State. A curfew has been imposed by the army. However, no one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
