International desk: The Biden administration has commented that Israel has used US-supplied weapons in violation of international humanitarian law “in some cases” in the Gaza attack. News BBC
The US State Department said it was reasonable to assume that US-supplied weapons were used by Israel unjustly against Palestinians. However, the US government does not have full data to support this argument. A report in this regard was submitted to Congress on Friday.
A White House review shows how Israel has used US weapons since early last year. In addition to Israel, six other countries to which the United States supplies arms are at war.
While there were criticisms of some of the Israeli operations in Gaza, the report did not make clear that Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operations violated international law. That said, the IDF faced many difficult challenges in the fight against Hamas. So, they were forced to use US weapons.
The report also recommended resuming arms shipments, noting that the assurances it had received from Israel regarding compliance with the legal use of U.S. arms were sufficiently credible and reliable.
