International Desk: Turkey has sent a ship loaded with relief to Palestine. The special ship reached Al-Arish port in Egypt in 55 hours with 3,774 tons of relief. This is the ninth recent Turkish relief aid to Gaza.
The ship, loaded with baby food, sleeping bags, and flour supplied by the Turkish Red Crescent Society, left the port of Mersin in southern Turkey and arrived in Al-Arish on Tuesday. After anchoring at sea overnight, the ship anchored off the coast in the morning. News from the Anadolu Agency.
The report said relief materials will be unloaded at the port soon. Later, they will be taken to Gaza by various trucks crossing the Rafah border. After all the formalities, the relief materials will be handed over to the Red Crescent Society of Gaza. The Gaza Red Crescent Society will distribute the relief goods.
Earlier, the Turkish Red Crescent Society had already provided 40,000 tons of relief to Gaza eight times as emergency aid.
Turkish Ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Sen welcomed the ship.
Emphasizing the amount of aid, Sen said, ‘Our ninth ship has reached here. This is a record for aid relief in Gaza. Turkey currently leads the world in sending humanitarian aid. Various Turkish charities, the Turkish Red Crescent in particular, are taking the lead in this.’
Meanwhile, the Egyptian authorities and the international community praised Turkey’s actions. It is expected that the relief aid will reach Gaza soon after crossing the Al-Arish Rafah Gate, covering a distance of 25–30 km.
Thanking the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, security officials, and the Egyptian Red Crescent, Ambassador Sen said, “The Turkish people are always on the side of Gaza.” Their philanthropy, charitable service, and commitment to Gaza will continue into the future.”
At the time, he said, under international law, Israel is obliged to open a path for humanitarian aid and allow it to be delivered unhindered. But Israel often delays the delivery of aid in the name of testing. This is by no means desirable.
