International Desk: In the near future, it will be possible to go to Saudi Arabia without a passport. The country has already created digital documents to allow passport-free travel.

According to reports, the General Directorate of the Passport Department of Saudi Arabia is displaying the digital document in front of visitors arriving in Saudi Arabia during the Leap Year 2024 conference held at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center.

This digital document service is one of the digital and technological solutions offered to beneficiaries, including Saudi citizens, residents, and visitors. Those covered under this will get the domestic services of Saudi Arabia.

The main aim of the service is to facilitate the arrival process of visitors to Saudi Arabia by providing a unified number. Visitors or travelers will get an opportunity to get their digital identity or unified number from the ‘Abshar’ electronic platform of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the country.

This digital passport will be on the person’s mobile phone. Through this, it will be known where the traveler is staying in the country. As a result, no paper passport will be required.

Recently, the Saudi Ministry of Interior participated in Leap Year 2024, the world’s largest technology conference, highlighting the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in advanced technology and innovative digital solutions. The main objective of this initiative is to improve security, crowd management, human and environmental safety, global events, and fulfill Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
